Medicare Part C is also known as a Medicare Advantage (MA) Plan.    Medicare contracts with approved private companies to provide an "all in one" alternative to Original Medicare.   Medicare Advantage plans combine Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B ( Medical Insurance) and oftentimes a Part D  Prescription Drug Plan.  MA Plans that include Part D are often referred to as an MAPD Plan.  MA Plans must cover all Medicare Services.  Many MA Plans also offer extra dental, vision and hearing coverage as well as added value items such as fitness benefits.
